« Thread Started on Oct 23, 2009, 3:35pm »

Fellow poster Shemp has posted the following on THE GOLDEN AGE OF WRESTLING PART TWO.
All are welcome.

Ox Baker is coming to Chicago.
Saturday, Nov. 7
Ethyls Bar
2600 S. Wentworth Ave.
Chicago, IL 60616
Noon til 4pm

Ox will be there selling t shirts, movies, etc.
Autographed pics will be $7
Your pics autographed $5

Last time he posed for pictures at no charge. He should do the same again. Should be a lot of fun again.
Ox's manager in the WWA Handsome Johnny Starr is scheduled to appear as well. They have not seen each other in 30-35 years.

I'm picking out a Thermos for you. Not an ordinary Thermos for you. But the extra best Thermos that you can buy, with vinyl and stripes and a cup built right in.

I hope there are plenty of minorities in attendance. Ox loves the minorities. Ask him about the birthday party he left because the family was black.....oh and he never gave them back the money

Sounds like OX needs to have a "beer summit" with Commandante Obama.

Who is going to see Ox Baker/Johnny Starr?
Joey, you may disagree with some of the things Ox Baker has done but he ALWAYS gave a hell of an interview & had great matches. Johnny Starr was a great bump man similar to Heenan in his prime who also had great interviews.

I'd love to go and meet Ox Baker. Unfortunately I'll be working in the day and will be attending DREAMWAVE in LaSalle at night. Wish Baker would have chosen another time.

It is my understanding that Ox is just in Chicago for this appearance.

Please come if you can.

Jessi,

Thanks for writing the article.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

btw, regarding the piece about the Chicago promotion, I forgot to mention Wilbur Snyder who also owned the WWA. Big omission on my part!.

OK, two quick things. 1) We ask that posts keep within the page Terms of Usage. Specifically, images and text should keep within the boundaries established by the sage Maxim Magazine; if you don’t see it there, don’t put it here please.

2)As this board involves the discussion of Chicago Wrestling, often various personalities in the Chicago wrestling scene will be brought up. Occasionally, they will be criticized and even insulted. Everyone in the business, including local workers, bookers, and other folks, is allowed to post on the board. But the simple fact is that they will be held to a different standard than the fans who post to this board. They are open to a level of criticism that other posters are not. As they are people in the public eye, one hopes that they can handle some negative feedback now and then.
